Thailand - Visitor Visas - Information, Extensions and Exemptions

The basic requirements for visas to enter the Kingdom of Thailand are laid out over a number of pages.

Monday - Friday For Visa Applications 0930 - 1230

At the moment nationals from 41 countries can now stay in Thailand for up to 30 days without a visa. UK passport holders are in this group.

There are 14 countries where temporary tourist visas valid for 15 days may be obtained at designated immigration check-points - including the international airports at Chiang Mai, Don Muang - Bangkok, Hat Yai and Phuket.

Documentation required for any visa application are: a valid passport with more than 6 months left to run after the expected departure from Thailand. A correctly completed visa application form. A recent photograph 4 cm x 6 cm and an application fee of 800 baht for a transit visa valid for 30 days or 1,000 baht for a tourist visa valid for 60 days.

You should be able to show you can financially suport yourself for the duration of your stay 2,000 Baht per individual 4,000 Baht per family.

Thailand Visitor Visa Extensions

Any tourists who want to extend their visa must apply to the Office of the Immigration Bureau with their passport and appropriate documentation / funds

For non-UK passport holders - please contact your local Thailand Embassy or Consulate.

One Year Multiple Entry Non-Immigrant Visa - Only for UK (British), USA (American), AUS (Australian) Citizens

You can obtain a one-year visa for Thailand with qualification. This visa type provides:

Multiple entry into Thailand (unlimited)
Valid for use for a period of one calendar year
Able to stay in Thailand for up to 90 days for each entry *
Ability to obtain work permit for Thailand, if needed

* One-day border trip (4 hours from Bangkok) and you can renew your stay for another 90 days in Thailand.

1. Passport (at least six months remain before expiration)
2. Some reason, interest in business or investment in Thailand**
3. Reside in the country (UK, USA, AUS) where you will have to apply at the Thai Embassy
