Khao Hin Lek Fai, Park and Overlook of Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan

Khao Hin Lek Fai - Flintstone Hill, though not exactly a mountain is a great overlook point over 160m above and a couple of kilometers out of Hua Hin

Khao Hin Lek Fai, Park and Overlook of Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan

We visited Khao Hin Lek Fai in February 2007 and found if you are looking for a spectacular view of Hua Hin, you don't need to go any further. Take a taxi, or if you want to hike, up to the park and overlook points on Khao Hin Lek Fai, Hua Hin, Flintstone Hill. It's a very steep climb to the top, but worth it once you're there.

south beyond Khao Takiab from Khao Hin Lek Fai, Park and Overlook of Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri KhanThere are 2 official and a couple of unofficial lookout points amongst the boulders. The Khao Hin Lek Fai park and lookouts are a popular location with locals, especially for courting couples at sundown which is probably the best time to go. Don't be disappointed though, the fact is you are looking westwards, so you won't see a sunset over the sea. You will see the sunrise if you are really keen but that means getting here for about 05.00! Try all of the lookouts as they offer different views. From one you can see far to the south beyond Khao Takiab and from another north towards Cha-am.

Statue of King Rama VII - Khao Hin Lek Fai, Park and Overlook of Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri KhanThere were toilets a few outlets selling food and drink. There are plenty of peacocks roaming around the park area which is a well laid out garden, stocked with many different species of indigenous shrubs, trees and bamboo.

There also is a statue of King Rama VII that adds to the Thai-ness of the location.

Hin Lek Fai Hill, the Flintstone Hill is located about 1.5 km west of the city center and provides a panoramic view of Hua Hin and a birds eye view of the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course below, as well as the azure blue Gulf of Siam over the sprawling town.

On the way to hill you have the opportunity to visit a couple of Wats or temples. The first Thai boxer to win a world boxing title was Pone Kingpetch - Mana Sridokbuab - from Hua Hin. Pone won the world flyweight belt in 1960. There is a statue to the Pone Kingpetch - Mana Sridokbuab just north of the Melia Hotel, next to a Chinese temple, at the Hua Hin rocks and another in Hua Hin at a small public area named after him.

Flora - Khao Hin Lek Fai, Park and Overlook of Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri KhanWe made the trip as part of a full day's sightseeing trip in and around Hua Hin with a privately hired 'taxi' tour with "Jack's Tour", where besides Khao Hin Lek Fai - Hua Hin Overlook, we visited Marukhataiyawan Palace - The old Royal Summer Palace for King Rama VI, Luang Phor Tuad Statue - Big Buddha Monument at the Huay Mongkol Temple, Pala-U Falls - Kaeng Krachan National Park and The Monkey Temple at Khao TaKiab, just south of Hua Hin. The day started at 0900 and ended about 1730. We bought lunch out at a cafe style restaurant Jack knows close to Pala-U village.

Jack speaks fairly good English and his car is great. Get Jack to introduce you to 'Bamboo Sticky Rice", you'll love it!

Wear long trousers / long skirt and no 'strappy' tops or singlets for Royal Palace and Temples. Take with you the following: plenty of drinking water, sun hats, sunglasses, camera and binoculars. We also recommend that you take fish pellets and monkey food. For those of you who are prone to being bitten it is advisable to take insect repellent.
